Three women name former Liberal Democrat MP as paedophile
Police investigate allegations of sex attacks on girls – and possible link to Dolphin Square

Three women have come forward to allege that the same former Liberal Democrat MP carried out sex attacks on them as girls, Exaro can reveal.
They include Esther Baker, who waived her right to anonymity and went on Sky News last week to talk about how she was sexually abused by a politician, police officers and others in woods in Staffordshire.
Staffordshire Police is investigating her allegations, and have conducted several lengthy interviews with her.
Speaking to Exaro, she said: “That man raped me for more than four years.”
The MP, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has no publicly-known connection with the county.
He denied the allegations to Exaro today.
Baker has also told police that she was sexually abused at a flat in London, which she now believes was in Dolphin Square, the apartment complex where many MPs have homes, near Westminster.
She said that she recognised what one abuse survivor, known as “Darren”, described as the “medical room” at a large apartment in Dolphin Square.
“When I read the description of the medical room in Dolphin Square on Exaro, it seemed rather familiar to me. At the time, I had no idea where I had been taken to in London.” She had previously given a similar description to police, she said. “It was a room with a medical chair with shackles. I described it to police as a dentist chair with belts on.”
She alleges that a former Labour cabinet minister, now dead, also sexually attacked her. She believes that a Lord and a judge were among her abusers.
“The police have been good in listening to me. They seem to be taking me seriously,” she told Exaro.
She says that she was sexually abused from the age of six to at least 12.
“I remember being taken to this wood where we were abused, with police officers either taking part or guarding the place. One officer, I remember, was very upset about what was going on, but he felt that he could not do anything about it.”
“There were a number of other girls there about my age. There were about six or seven girls. They were not always the same girls, but I did not know them.
“I was repeatedly raped by this MP over four to five years. This went on while two or three policemen – sometimes in plain-clothes, sometimes in uniform – were there. Occasionally, they took part, otherwise they stood guard and were near enough to watch.”
She has been talking to Exaro since January, initially raising worries about some people who represent themselves as speaking on behalf of abuse survivors.
In February, she first met with Merseyside Police, her local force. “It was hard, but at least it sets things in motion,” she said at the time.
Next, police carried out a video interview with her. “Four hours, and it does not even feel like I have scratched the surface,” she said.
The interview was passed to ‘Operation Hydrant’, which is co-ordinating police investigations into child sex abuse in the UK, including allegations against 261 “people of public prominence”.
Exaro established that the police were treating her allegations seriously, although their investigation was at a “scoping” stage.
We were waiting to see whether the police would upgrade it to a full criminal investigation before breaking news of the case, but last week’s developments forced early disclosure.
Jon Drake, assistant chief constable at Staffordshire Police, said that the investigation would gather evidence “regardless of role” of any perpetrator.
Last month, a second woman named the same former Liberal Democrat MP as having sexually abused her as a child. She came forward through the Church of England, which has no connection with the abuse.
Baker told Exaro: “I am so sad that someone else is going to have to consider the police route, but also so relieved to know that someone else has come forward.”
And a third woman who has named the same ex-MP as an abuser contacted Staffordshire Police on Wednesday, the day after Baker’s interview on Sky News.
Police have scheduled two more days of interviews with Baker next week.
“I am looking forward to their being over,” she said.
Child sex abuse victim claims politician was among men who regularly assaulted her in woods while uniformed police stood guard
- Esther Baker claims she was abused by a politician in the 1980s and 1990s
- Police watched as she was assaulted and sometimes joined in, she says
- One policeman said ‘sorry’ to her after he stopped her from running away
- New investigation into abuse ring is launched following Ms Baker’s claims
A child sex abuse victim claims she was abused by a politician who assaulted her as uniformed policemen stood guard.
Esther Baker has told detectives she was a among a group of children who were regularly abused by the political figure, who is from the ‘recent era’, during the 1980s and 1990s.
Ms Baker, who has waived her right to anonymity, said police officers would keep watch as she was sexually abused, occasionally joining in.
Staffordshire Police have now launched an investigation into the child abuse ring following Ms Baker’s claims.
Child victim: Esther Baker claims she was sexually abused by a politician who assaulted her as uniformed policemen stood guard
Speaking to Sky News, Ms Baker, who says she was abused from the age of six, claims the politician is from the current era.
She said uniformed officers would stand guard in woodland on Cannock Chase, Staffordshire, while she and other children were sexually assaulted.
‘I got the feeling very much that they were protecting somebody, that they were with one of the men,’ she said.
‘One of them (the police officers) I knew from church. There were a few occasions where they would be in uniform, and I kind of knew, I learnt that when they were in uniform that it was going to be a rough night. On occasion they would … they would sort of join in.’
Ms Baker said that on one occasion she tried to run away, but was stopped by a police officer who told her he was ‘sorry’. The time has come for that officer to come forward, she added.
She explained that she was a ‘favourite’ of the politician, who she says is from the recent era but is not from Staffordshire, but only recently realised who he was.
Ms Baker (pictured playing the piano as a child) was abused from the age of six by the politician and a group of men, which may have included a Lord and a judge
The politician liked it when she played the piano, Ms Baker recalled, getting her to sit on his lap while she did so.
She said: ‘He was part of it for four years. One of the core members. He was there quite often – I was one of his favourites.
‘I would know that face anywhere. I have lived with it and others in my head for over 20 years, I know every inch of him,’ Ms Baker added.
She says she and the other children, of varying ages, were given alcohol and were often filmed.
She believes a Lord and a judge may have been among her abusers, who she says also assaulted her inside buildings around Staffordshire.
Ms Baker has given a graphic account of her abuse to detectives and is now appealing to other victims to come forward.
Staffordshire Police were unable to say whether the politician is still alive, or whether he is still in public office.

Assistant Chief Constable Jon Drake said the force had launched an investigation into Ms Baker’s claims.
He said: ‘Staffordshire Police is in the early stages of investigating a number of very serious allegations from the 1980s and 90s. Specially trained officers are carrying out a number of interviews with the victim to build up an understanding of what took place, and her recollections of all those involved.
‘We are determined to thoroughly gather any evidence which will allow us to bring those who may have been involved to justice, while taking a sensitive approach to supporting the victim throughout.
‘We will continue to interview her over the coming days, recognising the horrific nature of what we are investigating. To be clear, regardless of role, anyone who has been involved in criminal offences will be investigated to provide justice for the victim.
‘Child abuse is a terrible crime, whenever it occurs. We are keen to hear from anyone who knows more about the allegations, or any other victim of child sexual abuse.
‘In this specific case the victim has made the decision to waive her right to anonymity. Staffordshire Police wants to reassure anyone who has been a victim of any form of child or sexual abuse that their anonymity will be protected.’
Child sex abuse: ‘Police guarded paedophile ring’, claims victim
Esther Baker, 32, waives right to anonymity to highlight alleged sexual abuse by prominent figures and police in the Eighties and Nineties
A woman has claimed police officers stood guard while she was sexually abused by a paedophile ring which included a well-known politician.
Esther Baker is the latest in a line of alleged victims of child abuse to waive their right to anonymity in a bid to bring abusers to justice.
Now 32, Miss Baker said she was sexually abused by the politician and other senior figures, including a man she believes was a lord, at a beauty spot in Staffordshire and a number of nearby homes.
She told Sky News that police officers even joined in the abuse when she was assaulted from the age of six in the Eighties and Nineties.
“There were a few occasions where they would be in uniform, and I kind of knew, I learnt that when they were in uniform that it was going to be a rough night,” she said.

“On occasion they would … sort of join in.”
The politician, who has not been named, was a “core member” of the paedophile ring and his alleged victim said: “I would know that face anywhere.”
A judge may also have been among the men who sexually abused her, Miss Baker said.
Miss Baker, from Liverpool, has already been interviewed by specialist police officers and hopes her decision to go public will encourage other alleged victims to come forward.
Abuse took place in woodland at Cannock Chase and other locations in the Midlands, she said.
She and other victims were plied with alcohol by the adults, she claimed, and some of the abuse was recorded on film.
Assistant Chief Constable Jon Drake, of Staffordshire Police, said: “Specially trained officers are carrying out a number of interviews with the victim to build up an understanding of what took place, and her recollections of all those involved.
“We will continue to interview her over the coming days, recognising the horrific nature of what we are investigating.

Esther Baker, left, claims she was attacked at Cannock Wood, right
Ms Baker shockingly said police officers not only knew about the abuse, but took part in it.
She said: “I got the feeling very much that they were protecting somebody, that they were with one of the men.
“One of the officers I knew from church. There were a few occasions where they would be in uniform and I learnt that when they were in uniform it was going to be a rough night.

Ms Baker said she saw him both at the woods and at ‘abuse parties’ held in houses.
