A rabbi accused of molesting an 11-year-old girl has been caught on surveillance cameras allegedly paying hush money to the youngster’s mother.
Rabbi Steve Karro is seen handing over an envelope to the woman at a restaurant in Miami Beach, Florida, days before he was arrested on Thursday, accused of kissing the girl on the neck and touching her backside.
The 55-year old, who had known the alleged victim for five years, sat the girl on his lap at his art gallery before ‘inappropriately touching her’, police claim.
In the footage, obtained by WSVN, another girl is then seen walking over to Karro and hugging him. The youngster in the video is not the alleged victim.

The substitute rabbi at the Shaare Ezra Sephardic Synagogue Congregation is then said to have given the girl candy as a present while urging her not to tell her mother what had happened.
Following his release from jail, after posting bond, he claimed his actions were ‘love, harmony, cleansing. Nothing else.’
As a result of the allegations, the woman’s lawyer claims she and and her child have been ostracized from the local Jewish community while other rabbis have told her to remain silent on the matter.
He added: ‘Frankly, I’m disgusted by the reaction of the Miami Beach Jewish community. From what I understand from the mother, is that she has been ostracized from parts of the community. Rabbis have advised her to stay silent.’
Herman, who has also represented victims of abuse in the Catholic church, also said: ‘To make them feel re-victimized is wrong. ‘It reminds me about scandals we’ve seen with other clergy abuse cases in this country.’

Karro’s attorney said he did not know about the video and could not comment on what happened.
The Miami Beach Police Department have said they are continuing to investigate the case.
According to his arrest report, Karro ‘intentionally touched/grabbed the buttocks’ of an 11-year old girl on April 16.
Speaking to a CBS 4 Miami reporter, he claimed his actions were no different to how he treated any other girl
He said: ‘It was not touch, it was hug and the way I hug everybody, the way I hug all the kids, the way I caress them the way I give everybody love. It was the same like everybody else.
‘There was plenty of time kissing, hugging, everything, yes,’ he added.
